Feeling more balanced in mom life: A look at a Moms to do list

Cheri, June 22, 2024March 31, 2026

I read this quote and I loved it so much because it is the center of how balanced mom life will be … “ nothing in your life will be balanced unless Jesus is the core of who you are and you allow him to clean out the center for himself “ building balance in mom life starts here ! Isaiah 48:17 “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go”

I’ve been a believer all my life but it took me well into motherhood to finally understand that if I wanted to feel less stressed in life I needed to fully surrender

… I like to plan and have my routines so to give up control and my ways for his was hard for me. But as I learned to surrender  more and more to God things started flowing better helping me to fully grasp the concept that his ways are better than mine .

So what I’ve started doing is either the night before or right away in the morning I make my to do list for the day …  but when I’m making my list I ask God what his plans are for my day… spending quiet time alone with God gaining his wisdom in making my to do list helped bring clarity in what was actually important to do that day … it helped me shift my focus from wanting to get what I wanted done to doing what is going to serve God and his kingdom. Right now in this phase of life serving Gods kingdom is serving my children and  my husband so things revolved around them are my priority and in service to them I feel so at peace and fulfilled that the other tasks I used to stress over doing have become less important and funny enough I find the time I need to do everything that needs to get done when I just let go and let God guide my day.

When things are on my list and I don’t get to them I feel more at peace because I know I did what I needed to do and I move the other tasks to my list for the next day.

One other way to help gain clarity on what should go on your to do list is to make a list of everything you

  1. ….need to do (feed the kids.. help them ready and dressed for the day… homeschooling/ homework….work if you have a job outside the Home or at home business….bible study…and prayer time …
  2. ….should do( laundry… meal prep/cooking… bath the kids .. serve others … church attendance or commitments
  3. …. Things you want to do (such as things you enjoy doing that help you ) exercise.. bible study groups.. coffee with a friend…reading… personal development .. mindfulness practices….going on social media
  4. … things you are doing to look good or are doing out of guilt (volunteering because you couldn’t say no… Extra curricular activities…things you think will make you a good mom)

***** Now cut out all the things on your last list !! They are taking up your time and taking you away from things that truly matter

🍃 Moms we don’t need to make Mile long to do lists and then feel guilty when we don’t get everything done or burn the candle at both needs trying to complete the entire list … that’s not how God wants us to live motherhood .

Bringing clarity to what tasks are your priority and in Gods will for you each day will give you a sense of peace and balance in mom life making it feel less stressful!
